“Very soon I will stand before the ultimate judge of my life. Although I may have many reasons for fear and fear when I look back on my long life, I am however happy because I firmly believe that the Lord is not only the righteous judge, but also the friend and brother who already suffered Himself my deficiencies and by that, as a judge, is also my advocate (Paraclitus). In view of the judgment hour, the grace of being a Christian becomes evident to me. Being a Christian gives me the knowledge and more so friendship with the Judge of my life and allows me to confidently walk through the dark door of death. In this regard, I constantly remember what John says at the beginning of Revelation: He sees the Son of Man in all his glory and falls at his feet as dead. But the Lord, laying his right hand upon him, saying, ‘Fear not: it is I… ‘. (cf. 1:12-17).
Dear friends, with these sentiments I bless you all.
Benedict XVI”
